THE PATRIARCHAL STATE OF THE UNION : "THE NATION" TURNS 125 / Gore Vidal : introduced by Bob Baldock. Speech by noted author, who traces the origins of the Patriarchal State in the 1950's, up to the present. He addresses the ending of government-people communication, the helpless feelings of most Americans which has lead to political apathy, the similarities between the Democratic and Republican parties--and a need for a 3rd party--how control of the media threatens the Democratic society, and criticises the National Security Stae and defense budgets.
